It also performs and loads pages much, much faster. Much less RAM usage (easily open 200 tabs, 20 extensions, CPU usage 1-2, RAM < 2.5GB, as opposed to chrome that can easily take 4GB+ RAM at just 2 open Tabs). To update your account to use zsh, please run `chsh -s /bin/zsh`. Opera is just incredibly amazing Its almost like chrome but with many more features, customization, and without drawbacks. The default interactive shell is now zsh. operaprofile is not created on the stick (I do know how to display hidden filenames and folders in MacOS). ![]() Upon following the directions I quoted above exactly, there is a pause of about half a minute, then it spits out a large number of error codes and installs Opera normally, placing profile information in ~/Library/Application Support/ (which I then need to delete to try this again) and the hidden folder. dmg file and move Opera.app to a USB stick formatted with HFS+(Journaled). I am using Mac OS 10.15.7 (Catalina), and have downloaded the offline form of Opera for Mac, Opera_.171_Setup.dmg. You only have to run this once and it will create a hidden folder /Volumes/volume-name/.operaprofile/ that will contain all your bookmarks and settings, mail, and the disk cache. Press backspace once then type /Contents/MacOS/Opera -createsingleprofile (should read …Opera.app/Contents…) then press Enter Open Terminal.app and drag Opera from the USB stick and drop it on top of the Terminal window I will quote these instructions:ĭrag Opera from the disk image to an USB stick or external drive The instructions I'm using are a decade old, so I'm not really surprised that something's not going right.
